Plan A Funeral
Unattended Cremations
A direction cremation is a cremation only, without a service. Some people choose this option as they do not want the fuss or expense of a funeral.
However, does this give closure for the family? Does it allow family members and friends the opportunity to grieve and comfort each other, which are important aspects of a funeral or memorial service?
Each of us thinks and feels differently about death and death rituals. There is no right or wrong way. So it is important that people discuss their wishes with family and friends in advance, to allow discussion and acceptance of a person’s end-of-life wishes.
A compromise may be to hold a Memorial Service – formal or informal – for the deceased. It may take the form of a lunch, dinner or afternoon tea, for example. It can include tributes and rituals. Some families opt for a Scattering of Ashes service - talk with one of our Funeral Celebrant members about holding a tribute for your loved one.
